Students who have completed their junior year of High School may qualify for a food service or counselor assistant position. Most program area directors require a degree or experience in an appropriate field.

Specialized personnel, such as speech clinicians, certain administrators and nurses are reimbursed at a level appropriate to their professional training. Season-end scholarships are available to a number of the counseling staff.

Staff are welcome to use camp recreation facilities on time off. Camp has an indoor, heated pool, gym, boats, beaches, and much more.

Duties:
It is nearly impossible to provide a comprehensive picture of the work duties of a Camp Courage staff member in a summary page such as this. However, the phrase "long hours and hard work" probably best characterizes what is involved.

It is also a great time and a great learning experience. Former staff in all walks of life come back to tell us how their camp experience helped in jobs and in leadership. You will find it the best job you ever had. To view some of the activities you take part in, look at the session pages in the summer programs portion of the site. You can see campers in activities around the camp.

In the unit for campers with physical disabilities, personal care of campers such as dressing, feeding and toileting is one major area of responsibility. Recreation planning is another. Work is the name of the game. Speech Camp staff are responsible for reinforcing camper language goals, leading fun and educational camp activities, and behavior management.

Restrictions:
Camp Courage is a residential facility and staff members live on the camp property. It is a great community living experience for people who want it. You boundaries and experience of people from all parts of the country and the world are expanded. Our staff is about ten percent international and the rest are from around the US.

Days off are arranged on the basis of one day per week and are taken weekly or every two weeks, according to unit placement. Staff members are required to stay on camp property at all times with the exception of their days off or nights out.
