Courage North Summer Camp Programs:

  • Camp sessions for adults with physical disabilities:  These sessions provide similar philosophical and program experiences as our Camp Courage sessions, but in a more intimate northwoods setting. Both sessions serve adults ages 18 and over. The facility at Courage North is smaller with fewer campers, and there is a greater focus on outdoor activities, such as overnight camping or visits to nearby Itasca State Park.

  •
  • Leadership sessions for deaf and hard of hearing youth:  Courage North operates two sessions for youth, ages 7-17, focusing on development of leadership skills and independence in a setting which attends to all campers' communication needs. All campers are expected to participate in overnight camping, biking, canoeing or backpacking experiences.

  •
  • Hemophilia Camp for children and teens with Hemophilia:  A one week resident camp program for children who have hemophilia. The session is a partner program with the Hemophilia Foundation of Minnesota and the Dakotas.

  •
  • Minnesota and California Amateur Radio Camp for individuals with physical or sensory disabilities:  The Courage Center HANDI-HAM System and the Camping Department cooperatively run one week sessions at a camp in California and at Courage North where individuals who have physical or sensory disabilities can study to receive or upgrade their amateur radio operator license. This program is available to anyone across the nation who might be interested.

  •
  • Camp Discovery for children and young adults with Asperger's Syndrome:  A one week residential camp for children and teens who have Asperger's Syndrome, provided in collaboration with the Twin Cities Autism Society.  For a reservation packet or more information, please contact  the Twin Cities Autism Society, Inc., 970 Raymond Ave, Suite 101, St Paul, MN, 55114-1146 (651) 647-1083.

These Courage North programs are open to any young person who fits eligibility requirements. All campers pay a $25 non refundable registration fee on or before the first day of the session and are encouraged to pay what they can toward the cost of camp. HOWEVER, CAMP OPERATES ON A SLIDING SCALE, AND NO ONE IS TURNED DOWN BECAUSE OF INABILITY TO PAY ANY OR ALL COSTS. Qualified applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If you would like more information, please feel free to write or call.
